Are bullion coins legal tender?

Yes, if they are government issued bullion coins with a face value.  i.e. Canadian Maples $5, Philharmonics €1.50.  This nominal face value allows the coins to travel across national borders without the taxation or fees otherwise imposed by many countries on bullion itself.

Do bullion coins come with a certificate of authenticity?

Yes, a statement of weight and fineness is stamped directly onto the bullion, whether coins, rounds or ingots.  The bullion in effect, bears its own “certificate”.

How should I store my silver bullion?

The storage considerations for silver bullion are air, environment, and containers.  Exposing silver to the air oxidizes metal, changing its color. It is advisable that if you are storing your silver for a long period of time you store them in a controlled environment. A relatively constant, moderate temperature and low humidity are preferable for long-term storage as small particles of moisture may eventually cause spots. Placing packets of silica gel in coin storage areas helps control atmospheric moisture.  Although we ship our silver in individual self-seal plastic bags, it is not recommended that the silver is stored in these bags for long periods.  Coins tubes and AirTite capsules are an excellent storage solution as they are made of inert materials.  Paper envelopes of various sizes are sometimes used for one or more coins but be sure to use envelopes made explicitly for holding coins, or your coins may change color (tone) over time due to reaction with sulfur or other chemicals present in the paper.

What is the difference between silver bullion and numismatic silver coins?

Silver bullion is investment silver, it is purchased for its silver content, usually .999 or above in purity.  Even an uncirculated coin can have minor defects or abrasions on the surface caused by manufacturing processes and this should not devalue the product.  Numismatic coin collectors usually purchase proof quality silver, which cost more as these are manufactured with more care and precision and are packaged for protection.
